Post Men's Club Newsletter (April 7, 2008)
---

For you members here is something new we are going to try to put out on a periodic basis throughout the Men’s Club Golf Season. If there is something that you would like to see in these letters please feel free to drop your suggestions off at the front desk in the pro shop. Hopefully these newsletters will be informative to all our membership.

The new officers of the Chanticlair Men’s Club would like to welcome all our returning members as well as our new members for the 2008 season. We hope everyone enjoys the season. Take note, this is your men’s club and we will try to accommodate your needs if at all reasonable.

SOME OF THE NEW THINGS IN THE CLUB THAT EVERYONE SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS YEAR:

We will be playing under just three (3) course conditions throughout the year.

(1) Pick, Clean, Place (Note: We will use this at the being of the year and when conditions warrant it)

(2) Roll Ball Over In Your Fairway Only (Note: You are not allowed to touch your ball outside the fairway you are playing. As the course becomes more groomed we will start to play under this rule)

(3) Play The Ball Down (Note: This means you are not allowed to tough your ball at all. It must be played where it lies. If your decide to tough your ball the player will incur a one stroke penalty for a unplayable lie)

The course condition being played each week with be post on the sign up sheet and also on the first tee. There should be no excuse for not knowing what condition we are playing for that tournament. If members see that these rules are not being followed by certain foursomes / fivesomes, please bring it to the attention of the Tournament Director or Assistant and it will addressed.

Secondly, it is the responsibility of each member to post their score in the computer each Sunday that they play. If a player fails to do this and he happens to cash in the tournament, that individual will not be paid. The handicap Chairmen will check the winning results each week to ensure all winning scores have been posted. He will notify the Tournament Director of the ones that were not posted. (Note: A player will receive one warning before being disqualified for not posting his score in the computer. The Handicap Chairman will also post that score for the individual for that week only)

We will be Playing The Ball Down in all Major Club Tournaments this year, conditions permitting. These must also be posted as tournaments in the computer.

All members MUST play the ball from TEE to IN THE HOLE. There will be NO GIMMES in any tournaments this year except in our club match play event.

THINGS WE ARE LOOKING AT TRYING IN THE MENS CLUB THIS YEAR:

We will attempt to implement a Coffee / Bagel Fund this year. We will have coffee and bagels each week for the members. It is going to be an honor system and if each participant puts in a dollar each week we should be able to pull this off.

There will be a Skins Pool for cash each week. I believe it will be for both Gross and Net prize money. There will be a sign up sheet each week for the pool and a box to put your money in. I think it will cost a dollar to get into. We will have more details on this for the first tournament on April 6th.

The Men’s Club Hole In One Pool is available to all members. If you have not joined I suggest you do so. You can’t beat it for two (2) dollars. Everyone has a chance on the island hole. I am not sure who handles this for the club but we will find out and post it on the bulletin board with the total dollar amount that is in the pool.

THINGS WE ARE TALKING ABOUT FOR THE FUTURE IN THE MENS CLUB:

(1) More Shotgun starts to get a mix of membership playing with more different players.

(2) A Round Robin Saturday / Sunday Two Man Team Tournament. There will be flights of six teams and they will play each other over the course of five rounds. We are hoping to play three rounds on Saturday and the final two on Sunday. We will probably have food of some sort for Saturday. Still working on this with Chanticlair management to obtain a Saturday date probably utilizing a shotgun start.

(3) There is talk about trying to put a club social gathering together for a Saturday night at the course in July. Still working on this. Any ideas are welcome. Probably be a food and beer thing.

(4) Working on putting a tournament together using the ages of our members as a scoring factor, teeing positions. When we get the details ironed out we will try and schedule it for all are young men in the club.

(5) Possible random merchandise awards for outstanding play.

That is about it for now. Hopefully this will give you a feel for what is new in the club this year and what we are looking to do to make it even better. Please feel free to submit any ideas / suggestions that you think can make this year more enjoyable for all our membership.

Have a great golf season,

Chanticlair Men’s Club Officers
